ABOUT

My name is PJ.
I’m a sinner.
I try to live in the WAY of GOD.
I fail regularly.
I’m the oldest of 2 boys.
Son of great parents, a retired policeman & a “soon-to-be” retired teacher.
They taught me to serve.
I married Angie in 2003.
We adopted our first son, Isaac, in May of 2009.
They teach me what it means to love.
I am a creative arts director for a church called Crosspoint.
We play rock n’ roll.
Our community is very Acts 2.
I design on the side for non-profits and churches for a business called PMdesign, INC.
I like art.
I flounder in the left side of my brain.
GOD shows me grace everyday.
*****
I believe that to know someone’s thoughts you have to know a little bit about them. We’re all cut from different cloth. Come from different backgrounds. For me to automatically assume that you know what I’m trying to say would be asinine. I hope that after reading anything here, it spawns conversation: within yourself, with others, with me, with God… it’s all good.
That being said:
Angie and I were married in August of 2003. Not sure why, but she still keeps me around for some reason. We joined the Crosspoint launch team on a HUGE leap of faith (something that Angie teaches me about regularly). I left my job as a worship leader at the end of January 2007 to focus my efforts on the “arts of XPT” as a volunteer. I joined the paid staff team in March of 2008 and have been running ever since. I get really sweaty rockin’ on Sunday mornings, but it’s more than worth it! It’s said around Crosspoint that I’m “working hard for Jesus.” (Thanks Brian). So, I’ll take that!
Charlie, our 40 lb. beagle/shepherd, keeps us up late at night, but he’s an awesome little guy to have around.
We’re recently adopted our first son Isaac. It’s been a stressful journey, but the results are breathtaking!
WHAT I DO//
My primary vocation (sounds so official) as the Creative Arts Director for Crosspoint puts me into all things art. Music, design, promo, visuals… I oversee the teams that make the beauty happen. I’ve heard the worship at Crosspoint described as a blend of Coldplay, David Crowder* Band, and AC/DC. We enjoy the irony in that statement! Throw in a little U2 & some Weezer you have a good portion of my current drive mix. Worship should be more than just going through the motions. It should be something you connect to. Something that connects you to God… and God to us. There are few opportunities where more beautiful connection happen for groups of people… then we get to take it with us when we go!
In late 2007 my friend Mark and I began doing freelance graphic design together. Our focus has been the non-profit sector in an effort to help them stay current. If we (non-profs) look out of date… we probably are. We’re want to help.
At heart, I’m an artist, designer, musician. I live in the right side of my brain… and I wouldn’t change a thing.
If music is involved, I’ll be picking it apart.
If musical instruments are available (minus the drums), I’ll have my hands on it.
If there’s art around me, I’m probably intrigued by it.
If there are dry jokes being told, I’m probably telling them.
If there’s coffee to drink, I’ll be drinking it… but, decaf now. (I know, it’s kind of sad.)
